Top 8 Best Women’s Motorcycle Helmets for the Money in 2021 Reviews
1 Bell Qualifier Street Helmet – Most Durable Women’s Motorcycle Helmet
Ring my bell…
Let’s kick things off with this option from Bell. This brand is iconic in the world of motorsport. Since 1954 they’ve been at the forefront of producing first-rate helmets for both motorcycles and race cars.
Can this live up to their reputation?
It starts with three polycarbonate/ABS shells for extra protection. Weighing just 3.16 pounds, that material is incredibly lightweight. But that doesn’t mean it’s flimsy. This is one of the strongest women’s motorcycle helmets you can buy.
Inside we find thick padding covered by an anti-bacterial liner. Around the bottom is more padding, which forms an effective wind collar. Not only does this keep out drafts, but it reduces road noise, too, keeping your neck warm and your ears unharmed.
And there’s a surprise inside as well. That lining has small pockets close to the ears. They’re the perfect size for a Bluetooth headset, letting the rider stay in touch on the move.
Riding a motorcycle is a sweaty business…
This is why this helmet comes with ventilation. It works using Bell’s Velocity flow system, which sounds complicated but is straightforward. It allows cooling air to move through the lid without increasing wind resistance.
Bell also uses Airflow technology with this hat. The rider can adjust the intensity of the breeze rushing through. Keep it tightly shut on those chilly days, or let the wind flow freely during a heatwave.
That sounds awesome. What’s the catch?
While the visor does have some anti-fog properties, it isn’t a pin lock. That means it’s likely to mist up during bad weather. Plus, it’s a clear shield. If you want a tinted one, then that costs extra, and it isn’t cheap.
But overall, this a pretty awesome option. Oh, and it comes in a range of colors (yes, including pink), so you’re sure to find one to match your steed.
- Excellent construction.
- Decent ventilation.
- Good price.
- No tinted visor.
2 LS2 Helmets Full Face Rapid Street Helmet – Best High Speed Riding Women’s Motorcycle Helmet
Dream a little dream of me…
With its elegant dream-catcher design, this next entry in our review of the Best Women’s Motorbike Helmets is a seriously stylish number. That two-tone purple and gold effect gives it a stunning, iridescent sheen over a white and black base. Throw in a matte finish, and you get a helmet that will turn heads wherever you go.
But is it as good as it looks?
This one comes with two base shells. That’s not bad, but we’d prefer one more layer, just for a little more peace of mind. However, that does means it’s extremely light, weighing in at just three pounds.
Those shells are shaped to fit comfortably around the head. And the outer one has great aerodynamic properties. It works well to decrease wind resistance, meaning the rider’s head won’t get buffeted or knocked about at high speeds. As a result, this is one of the best aerodynamic women’s motorcycle helmets available.
And on the inside…
The hypoallergenic padding is removable for when it gets sweaty or wet. Plus, it’s machine-washable, no need to delicately clean it by hand. Therefore, it’s one of the easiest to clean women’s motorcycle helmets out there. And there’s plenty of padding to cushion the head well against a nasty blow.
There are also a couple of speaker pockets. They’re pretty small, but a Bluetooth headset can comfortably nestle in. You can listen to music on the go or use it to communicate with your riding partner.
How about ventilation?
We get an array of ports to ensure the smooth flow-through of air. Each one is adjustable to help the rider regulate their temperature depending on the weather. They’re well located as well, split between the front and the back. There’s a lot to like here. This is a comfortable, practical helmet with a serious sense of style. All that, and at a great price.
- Reasonable cost.
- Absolutely beautiful.
- Convenient speaker slots.
- Two shells.
3 Adult Personalized Cat Ear Motorcycle Helmet – Best Novelty Women’s Motorcycle Helmet
Here Kitty Kitty…
Our next contender is a fun little item. You can channel your inner Catwoman with this Wangbadan helmet. It comes topped with a pair of cute kitty ears.
Maybe you’ve got a panther inside just waiting to get out. Or maybe you’re a crazy cat lady and want the world to know it. Either way, you’re sure to catch a few eyes when people see you riding in this feline façade.
So, it looks great. But is it safe?
Well, it isn’t the thickest lid we’ve seen. And it weighs practically nothing. This might be one of the lightest motorcycle helmets for women around.
However, that doesn’t mean it won’t protect the rider. It’s made from ABS, which we know is a trustworthy material. And of course, it is DOT-certified, so it has to have passed at least the minimum safety requirements to achieve that.
As for comfort…
The protective lining has ample padding, allowing your head to snuggle in. There are gentle earplug sections, which soften road noise as well as providing a feeling of coziness. Even the chin strap is cushioned, and adjustable too, for the perfect fit.
We get very little ventilation here. There is no system in place to let the air in. You’ll need to ride with your visor open if you need to cool down.
Plus, those ears may look awesome, but they do get in the way. Anything sticking up like that is going to cause wind resistance. You’re going to feel a bit of drag when riding at top speed.
Is it one of the best women’s motorcycle helmets on the market?
Probably not. But we can’t help liking it. After all, who doesn’t want to be a lioness for a day?
- Badass design.
- Great for comfort.
- Possible safety concerns.
- Too much drag.
4 Daytona Helmets Motorcycle Half Helmet Skull Cap – Best Women’s Motorcycle Half Helmet
Skull and bones…
Now we come to a half helmet option. This one just screams old-school cool. It will look the part on any rider with a classic Royal Enfield Bullet or Harley Fat Boy.
Comfort is the name of the game here. Made by the renowned Daytona brand, they promise a helmet that feels great to wear without compromising on safety.
Can they deliver?
At just 1.75 pounds, it’s certainly the lightest motorcycle half helmet we’ve seen. Of course, it manages that by not having a chin guard or protection for the side of the face. But it sure means that we get a pleasant riding experience.
Plus, it’s contoured to fit the shape of the head. Many other similar lids tend to dig in at the top of the neck, but that’s not the case here. This one rests snugly against the back of the head without rubbing.
That contouring has another bonus, too. It helps with wind resistance. It makes sure the air flies smoothly over the shell, preventing drag. The result is one of the best drag reducing women’s motorcycle helmets you can buy.
And that’s not all…
As it’s so open, we don’t need a ventilation system. That makes it ideal for riding in hot and sweaty conditions. If you’re planning a trip through Death Valley, then this might be the best women’s motorcycle helmet for you.
It’s no good in rainy weather. There’s no visor here. You’ll need a pair of goggles to avoid losing visibility on those wet days.
And no matter how good it looks and feels, it just doesn’t have the same protection as a full-face helmet. Take a tumble, and you could easily end up with a broken jaw. While we love this style, we’re just not willing to sacrifice our safety for it.
- Time-honored good looks.
- Hot weather only!
- Lacks protection.
5 TCT-MT DOT Adult Helmet – Best Budget Women’s Motorcycle Helmet
Float like a butterfly…
One for the bargain hunters now. Motorcycle gear is never cheap, and it’s often difficult to find reasonably-priced items. But this one is seriously easy on the old purse strings.
Does it sacrifice quality for price?
With its floral motif and delicate butterfly design, at first, this seems a little on the weak side. The lack of weight adds to that too. While it looks quite elegant, it does give the impression of being a bit insubstantial and flimsy.
But look closely, and you’ll see this helmet is surprisingly sturdy. That outer shell is made from composite layers to give ample protection in case of an accident. It may be light and have a flowery pattern, but that hides a level of durability you wouldn’t expect at first.
Don’t judge a book by its cover…
Underneath that dainty design lurks an impressive amount of padding too. Not only does it work to hold the head in place, but it helps to disperse the impact of a crash. It’s also incredibly comfortable, acting as a nest for the skull.
And, of course, it’s removable and washable. After all, there’s not much worse than a wet, smelly helmet, is there? Just pull out the padding, toss it in the washing machine, and dry along with your normal clothes.
Are there any unusual features?
No, but you shouldn’t expect any for a price like this. However, we do get a ventilation system. It’s pretty minimal, but it does the job, letting the air wash over to keep you cool.
This isn’t a high-end helmet. But it does exactly what it claims to and looks good at the same time. So, if you’re in the market for one of the most affordable women’s motorcycle helmets, this might be the one for you.
- Very light.
- Easy on the purse strings.
- Basic model.
6 GDM VENOM Motorcycle Helmet – Best Value for the Money Women’s Motorcycle Helmet
Back in black…
With its stunning matte black finish, this GDM option is seriously sexy and stylish. Its sleek lines and elegant shape give it an alluring vibe, as well as adding a touch of class. Combined with that beautiful, iridescent visor, and we get a helmet that draws admiring glances wherever we go.
Not a fan of iridescence?
No problem. Two visors are included. Use the clear one when the light is dim and the colored when the sun gets in your eyes. And it couldn’t be easier to change them. Switching the visors out is a simple process. A couple of clicks on either side, and your new shield fits perfectly in place.
So far, so good. But what about protection?
The outer shell is constructed from a composite poly-alloy. This material offers amazing longevity and strength for total peace of mind on the road. And while it’s amazingly robust, it’s also surprisingly light and won’t cause stress on the neck.
Underneath, we get our layers of padding. And there’s a lot of it. Not only that but there are additional cheek pads as well for extra security and comfort. As a result, this is one of the safest women’s motorcycle helmets around.
Communication is key…
Our favorite thing about this helmet is its Bluetooth capabilities. It comes with a headset built right into the wall! Pair your phone and get up-to-date directions, traffic information, or answer calls.
There’s an intercom option as well. Chat to your fellow riders when traveling in a pack. And that battery gives us a whopping 12 hours of talk time, so it won’t fizzle out on the move. This means, if you want one of the best Bluetooth women’s motorcycle helmets, then look no further.
What about price?
This isn’t a cheap option. Those on a budget might want to look elsewhere. But with so many awesome features included, perhaps this one is worth it.
- Built-in Bluetooth device.
- 5-point ventilation.
- Dazzling design.
7 XFMT DOT Retro Style Motorcycle Open Face 3/4 Helmet – Best Vintage Women’s Motorcycle Helmet
Have you ever dreamed of zipping around Rome on a classic Vespa? We can’t send you to Italy, but we sure can help you look the part. This old-school helmet has some real vintage European vibes.
Don’t worry. It may look retro, but this is a modern helmet. It has all the contemporary safety features required today to protect us on the bike.
How about an ABS shell?
This outer layer is sturdy and reliable. It’s also pretty lightweight, so it doesn’t add pressure to the neck. And course, the inside is well-padded.
But unlike many other cool women’s motorcycle helmets, it’s lined with pliable, brown suede. Not only does it feel great against the skin, but it adds to the retro-chic look as well.
Does it come with a visor?
Along the forehead are three metal studs. These are for holding a bubble shield in place. Now, that shield isn’t included. And if you do buy one, then please be aware that you can’t raise and lower it.
Instead, a retractable visor is tucked in under the shell. This isn’t a full-face cover; it’s just enough to hide your eyes. As it’s tinted, it’s meant for use on sunny days. So we wouldn’t recommend riding with it down at night.
There’s a lot to like here. It offers a feeling of security, and it looks good while doing so. It doesn’t break the bank either, so your pocketbook will breathe a sigh of relief.
But make sure it will fit…
Check the sizing carefully. This brand tends to run small. Measure your head before buying, or be stuck with a helmet that doesn’t fit.
- Classic good looks.
- Beautiful, practical interior.
- Low price-tag.
- Inaccurate sizing.
8 Daytona Helmets Motorcycle Open Face 3/4 Helmet Cruiser – Most Comfortable Women’s Motorcycle Helmet
All that glitters…
Finally, we come to our last entry in our search for the best women’s motorcycle helmets. And in this one, you’ll look every part of the disco queen. Its vibrant, sparkle finish brings a smile to anyone’s face.
Could this be the best motorcycle helmet for women out there?
Good looks aside, this is a decent lid. Its contoured shape ensures maximum levels of comfort while reducing drag. This one sits comfortably against the top of the spine and lets the wind wash over it.
And as well as standing up to wind, it protects against other weather, too. There’s a small peaked cap at the front to keep the rain out of your eyes. Plus, for more defense, a bubble visor is included, which snaps on securely with five metal tabs.
Does it fit well?
It’s important to always check the sizing before buying any bike helmet. But this one seems pretty accurate. It comes with a head wrap too, which can assist if it’s a little too big.
The chin strap comes into its own here. It’s easily tightened, but it can also be adjusted forwards or backward. This allows the rider to pick the perfect position and takes into account face shape as well.
That sounds great. Are there any negatives?
Remember that bubble visor we mentioned earlier? It’s a dark one. It really shouldn’t be used for riding at night as it can be dangerous.
The other danger comes from the style. These three-quarter-sized helmets just don’t offer the same level of protection as full-face ones. So. please ride carefully.
- Fun, glitter, finish.
- Incredibly comfortable.
- Great chin strap.
- Clear visor sold separately.
Best Women’s Motorcycle Helmets Buying Guide
Choosing the best lady’s motorcycle helmet isn’t easy. Sure, we want something that looks awesome. But there are a lot of other factors to consider, too.
Firstly, decide what style you want. This is influenced by both your comfort level and the model of motorcycle you ride. However, it’s important to remember that different models have varying degrees of safety.
Full-face, half-hat, or something in-between?
Full-face helmets offer the most protection. As the name suggests, they cover the entire head, including the chin. However, they can feel claustrophobic at first and take a little time to get used to.
Three-quarter helmets give the rider a little more breathing space. They generally look pretty cool, too, as their shape has a retro edge to it. During a crash, they won’t defend your face, so try to avoid falling forward.
Skull cap, or half helmets, have a kind of military vibe and look best when paired with a classic bike. These offer the least coverage, and therefore, the lowest level of protection. They also sometimes give the rider what is known as the mushroom effect, thanks to their domed shape.
Let’s talk construction
The outer shell of your new lid must be made up of several different layers. The bare minimum is two, but we expect more than that for the helmet to do its job. They should use a hardy, robust material such as ABS to minimize the impact during an accident.
Inside, we want lots of padding. It needs to act as a nest for the head. It should be soft enough for comfort but also have some rigidity to provide support.
It’s getting hot in here
Decent ventilation is crucial when choosing the right helmet. If there isn’t enough air passing through, then chances are you’ll overheat. Not only is this uncomfortable, but at really high temperatures, it’s dangerous too.
Look for a hat with an ample number of vents. And they have to be arranged evenly around the surface. Ideally, we’d like them to be adjustable as well, for riding in different conditions. Of course, this only really applies to full-face lids. Three quarter and half helmets don’t need it.
And then there are all those little extras. Things that aren’t necessary but are nice to have. Speaker pockets, for example, or a peaked cap to keep the rain out.
What we want most is an in-built speaker. They have so many different uses and can be seriously handy, whether riding with a group or solo. They do push the price up, though, so decide if this is something you need.
And speaking of price…
Motorcycle gear is expensive. Sorry, there’s no avoiding it; that’s just a fact of life. Even lower-end items can come with a pretty high price tag.
But remember, we wear this stuff for protection. It quite literally could save your life. Something that seems expensive now could be the difference between life and death in the future. Good gear is worth shelling out for.
