These mirrors are made to fit on GMC Sierra and Yukon vehicles from 1997 to 2007. They are also compatible with Chevy Tahoe and Silverado from that period as well. Therefore, these are some of the best GMC towing mirrors available.

With a compatible vehicle on hand, these mirrors are exceptionally easy to install. They have integrated reinforcement brackets that prevent the mirrors from vibrating while driving.

Not only telescoping…

The mirrors are manually foldable as well. Since towing mirrors stick out much further than your standard mirrors, the ability to fold them in is super helpful. If you want some of the best foldable towing mirrors, these are worth a look.

Once installed…

You notice that the integrated mirrors electronically adjust via your door side controls. Both mirrors are also heated to prevent fogging and ice accumulation. Therefore, these are some of the best cold weather towing mirrors you can buy.

While you can adjust some aspects of the mirror electronically, some you cannot. The telescoping function of the mirrors needs to be operated manually. They simply pull out and click into place. You can fold the mirrors in manually as well. Surprisingly, you do not need to put in much effort at all to fold or telescope the mirrors.

Puddle lamps…

Integrated into the lower part of each mirror are a few small amber LEDs. When you unlock or open your door, these will light up. They are meant to light up the path leading to your truck door, but we did not feel they worked that well. While not harsh to look at, the color of the LEDs does not provide that much light.

4 Trail Ridge – Best Value for the Money Towing Mirrors

If you want to have power-folding towing mirrors on your F150, then these Trail Ridge mirrors are worth your consideration. That is, if you can afford them, that is.

They are made to work with all 2015-2017 Ford F150 and also 2018 F150s without a temperature sensor. To check if your F150 has one, you simply need to look at your passenger-side mirror, and it is easily noticeable.

Blindspot memory…

In your F150, you can adjust your seats and mirrors and then program them to one of two memory settings. This allows you to hop into your truck, hit a button, and have everything set up automatically.

These Trail Ridge towing mirrors are also compatible with the F150 mirror memory function. They adjust via your stock control panel found in the vehicle. Therefore, these are some of the best automatic towing mirrors out there.

So easy to attach…

CIPA’s 11950 clip-on towing mirror has a universal type of fit. It uses an adjustable set of clips to grip on to stock mirrors up to ten inches in size.

With the 11950 in the position, you also slide it towards or away from your stock mirror as well. At full reach, the 11950’s five by seven-inch mirror face will extend out seven inches. This makes them some of the best cheap towing mirrors on the market.

But there’s a catch…

With these clip-on mirrors mounted on your vehicle, you do notice that they tend to vibrate quite a bit while driving down the road. You also find that these CIPA mirrors do not work well in the cold and ice up quickly.

On hot summer days, they work well enough. But we would not recommend this type of towing mirror for everyday use. Given the extremely low price point, remember that you are getting what you pay for.

6 K-Source Fit System 80700 – Best Dodge Ram Towing Mirrors

Another relatively inexpensive option is this Fit System towing mirror solution from K-Source. It is sold in pairs and is made from ABS plastic.

This clip-on mirror system was made for Dodge Ram 1500s from 2002 to 2008. It is also compatible with Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500s from 2003 to 2009 as well.

60-second install…

When installing a towing mirror solution on your truck, it does not get any more simple than this Fit System kit. Once you take the towing mirrors out of their box, you see that they are shaped just like your stock mirrors, mostly.

To install them, you start by attaching the top hooks to the top of your stock mirror. Then just push down on the Fit System till you hear the bottom clips snap into place. That is it; you are done!

The odd rattle…

With them installed, the extension and stock mirror are locked to one another. It extends the length of your total mirror to just over seventeen inches. Even though your mirror is more extended, you will still be able to fold it in just like usual. The Fit System holds tight, but we noticed the occasional rattle when going over bumpy terrain, though.

7 MOSTPLUS – Best Sequoia and Tundra Towing Mirrors

Do not fret, Toyota owners. There are a couple of great towing mirrors available for your Tacoma or Tundra. This next set of towing mirrors are an excellent fit for Sequoia and Tundra models from 2007 to 2018. These MOSTPLUS towing lights are heated and telescopic.

To power them up, you will find an additional wiring harness and some spare electrical cable. The extra bit of wire is needed to get these towing mirrors to fully function as intended.

Lights and more lights…

These MOSTPLUS towing lights have integrated turn signals on the outside of their protective cases. Even when not using your turn signals, these lights will still illuminate and function as running lights.

On the actual glass mirrors, you will also notice a set of LEDs that will light up when you turn on your turn signal as well. Furthermore, two amber LEDs are on the edge of the mirrors that act as clearance lights.

Read the instructions carefully…

Underneath the towing mirrors are also walk-up lights. With all these different lights on offer, wiring them correctly can be tricky, though. We blew a fuse the first time we wired these towing mirrors up. You can get this up and running on your own. Just make sure you carefully read over your vehicle’s owner manual for wiring help.

8 Akkon Store – Best Toyota Tacoma Towing Mirrors

We are finishing off this roundup with another pair of mirrors from the Akkon Store. These mirrors are rather unique since they do not telescope out like other complete mirror replacements. Instead, you have a pair of mirrors for 2005 to 2015 Toyota Tacomas that flip up. At first glance, they just like a standard set of Tacoma mirrors.

That is until you simply rotate and flip them upwards. These Akkon Store towing mirrors also feature a separate smaller mirror in the corner that is angled to reduce blind spots specifically.

Help!

While these mirrors are meant to directly bolt on in place of your stock mirrors, we did not find it to be that easy to do so. Like with the other Akkon Store towing mirrors we looked at, you won’t find instructions provided with these either.

We found the bolt pattern on these mirrors to be slightly off. This caused us to have to drill out from the mounting brackets so they could secure them correctly. You will also need to connect these to your vehicle’s stock mirror wiring. Once attached you can control them just like you would your vehicles stock mirrors.

Great for winter use…

They have a built-in heating element on offer as well. It is fair to say that out of all the towing mirrors we tested, these defrosted and melted ice the quickest.

Best Towing Mirrors Buying Guide

You will have noticed throughout this roundup that not all towing mirrors are the same. Before purchasing a pair of towing mirrors, you need to make sure they are compatible with your vehicle. A towing mirror for a 2007 Dodge Ram may not fit on a 2018 Dodge Ram.

This goes with all make and model vehicles. You also need to make sure the trim model of your truck is also compatible. Once you have all that information at hand, you can start searching for a pair of towing mirrors.

Towing mirrors come in a few varieties. They will commonly clip on over your factory vehicle mirrors, or they might even replace them entirely.

Clip-on Towing Mirrors

Towing mirrors that clip onto your stock mirrors are going to be the easiest to use and the cheapest. They can sometimes fit universally between multiple vehicle makes and models as well.

With clip-on towing mirrors, your mirrors will function the same as they normally would. The only difference is that they will be much longer. While clip-on towing mirrors work well, they rattle and vibrate a bit. They also do not provide the same level of functionality as more expensive replacement mirrors do.

Replacing Stock Mirrors

If you are buying towing mirrors to replace your stock mirrors, installation is not as straightforward. Instructions are usually included, and they typically require a few wrenches and not much more.

Things get a bit more complicated if your towing mirrors are heated and have integrated turn signals and lights. Since those types of towing mirrors require power, they will come with a compatible adapter to plug into your existing mirror wiring.

This is where your vehicle model comes into play…

For example, if you have a Ford F150 Lariat, its stock mirrors may have a temperature sensor. You will then need to make sure the towing mirrors you are interested in buying are compatible with temperature sensors. Otherwise, the wiring will not work at all.

A compatible powered towing mirror may also add additional turn signals and lighting to your truck. This can be super helpful and well worth the extra money.

They may also be telescopic…

A telescopic towing mirror will slide in and out, eliminating almost all of your blind spots. Clip-on towing mirrors do not provide the same amount of viewing coverage since they are fixed in place.

A towing mirror’s primary purpose is to eliminate those tricky blind spots. That is why if you have the money, we recommend going with a mirror that is at least telescopic. Do not get us wrong, though. Clip-on towing mirrors are great, but they just are not meant for people who do a lot of towing.
