Sizing…

The jacket is full length and has a removable hood. It has an open waist design. The zipper has a storm snap-down flap, and there are elasticated cuffs at the sleeves. The leggings also have an elasticated waist with the addition of an adjustable leg opening.

The jacket and pants have a waterproof index rating of 5,000mm. They’re also breathable, so they should keep you dry and comfortable even during heavy downpours.

Adjust to fit…

The jacket has an adjustable and removable hood. The waistband can also be adjusted for comfort and fit. We’re sure you’ll agree there’s nothing worse than a jacket flapping around on your rides.

Simple to wear…

The rain suit is made from an inner Polyester shell with an outer PVC coating. The combination of materials is designed to keep you dry and comfortable in the rain.

Cooling vents…

The jacket has a hood that can be folded away when not in use. It also has a soft corduroy collar for your added comfort. The NexGen Men’s Rain Suit is made from waterproof material. The jacket and pants are also wind resistant. Plus, they have some level of breathability.

It is lightweight enough to be easily worn over existing motorcycle clothing. To help you quickly pull on the trousers, over boots or stout shoes, it has zips on the bottoms. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have Velcro fasteners and only has elasticated bottoms. We prefer to see Velcro fasteners as they’re a much better seal against the rain.

The jacket also doesn’t have Velcro fasteners at the cuffs. This makes the jacket a little more uncomfortable and more liable to let in the rain at the wrists.

More positively…

The jacket has a pair of large pockets at the front. Additionally, the pants also have a back pocket, which is a handy and surprising feature for inexpensive pants.

Both the jacket and the pants have a large reflective strip, which we’re sure you’ll agree are an essential safety feature. Regardless, the light silver and orange color of the suit is likely to get you easily seen.

Keep your cool…

Two more features we like include a foldaway hood and the venting system. The venting system is excellent for cooling you down on those hot, rainy, humid days.

The outer and inner layer is made from a non-woven wind-resistant Polypropylene material that feels pleasant to the touch. The inner layer is made from a waterproof, wind-resistant, and breathable layer.

The rain suit comes in a choice of four different colorways and a good selection of sizes. The sizes are accurate, and the cut is very much designed for a women’s figure.

Features…

The jacket has two good sized zipped pockets on the side. These fit nicely with the flow of the jacket’s design. So too does the barrel lock waist and the adjustable and foldable hood with its push cord locks.

The trousers are straight cut with an elastic waist that includes a cord tie. This allows for a better fit than just a regular elasticated waist. The pants have adjustable and elasticated bottoms, which make them easy to take on and off.

Unfortunately, neither the bottom of the trousers or the cuffs on the jacket has Velcro closures. They are both elasticated. We’d have preferred to see some Velcro just to improve on the waterproofing around the hands and feet.

All in all…

The FROGG TOGGS Women’s Rain Suit is nice and lightweight, so you can comfortably wear it over other clothing. It’s also comfortable and easy enough to move around in. Plus, because of its breathability, you won’t get hot and sweaty if you have to do a few chores or tasks whilst you’re wearing it.

This is made from heavy-duty nylon. Both the jacket and the trousers are fully waterproof. They’re also wind-resistant and breathable as you’d expect from something made from this kind of material.

There is a good selection of sizes though the same can’t be said for the choice of colors. They’ve gone all pre-war Ford Motors on us with this one. It’s either black or black!

Velcro all the way…

More positively, the jacket has a full-length lining, which helps to increase its breathability and wind-resistant properties. Other great features include the full-length zip, Velcro collar, and Velcro waistband.

We particularly like the Velcro waistband as it allows you to tailor the fit of the jacket more precisely. We also happen to think it looks stylish too. Sadly, the Velcro on the jacket then stops, and we don’t see any on the cuffs.

All is not lost, though, since Velcro puts in another appearance on the leggings near the bottoms. The bottoms have zips and elasticated bottoms, as well as Velcro, to ensure a proper fit over your boots. The 3-method opening and closure system also makes it a breeze to take the trousers on and off.

Fully lined…

Another big plus for the trousers is that, like the jacket, they too are fully lined. This is unusual for a suit at this price-point. It’s very welcome, though, since you get the same breathable and wind-resistant properties as the jacket.

The Milwaukee Motorcycle Clothing Company Motorcycle Riding Rain Suit offers good value for money. If you can live without pockets in the jacket, and the lack of any color choices, it’s a great option.

7 IXS Orca Evo Rain Suit (Black, Small) – Best No Sweat Motorcycle Rain Gear

This is the first all in one rain suit on our list.

It’s made from a PU coated 190T Nylon and has a polyurethane lining. It’s a very lightweight suit weighing just 1.2 lbs. This means it’s easy to carry around if you’re hiking or cycling. It also means it’s easy to fold away into a small space.

Lightweight…

Since this is water-resistant rather than waterproof, it will perform well in lighter showers and rain. However, in harder driving rain, it’s likely to perform less well. This also holds if you’re riding at high speeds for long periods.

Happily, since it’s got a breathable lining, and it’s lightweight, things don’t get too sweaty.

A choice of black, black or black…

The suit comes in a good range of sizes, but like the Milwaukee Motorcycle Riding Rain Suit we just reviewed, it only comes in black. It does have a reflective logo on the jacket front. Plus, it has reflective piping on the front and rear. However, it’s not enough to help you be easily seen. This is effectively another stealth suit.

The jacket has very little in the way of features. There is a Velcro fastener at the collar, but there’s no Velcro on the cuffs or anything at the waist to help with the fit. This means it can bellow out if you’re riding fast. It should be noted that there are also no pockets.

No storage at all!

There are also no pockets in the trousers. You do, however, get Velcro, elastic, and zips at the bottoms to help you get the suit on and off over your boots.

The Viking Cycle Motorcycle Rain Gear comes in a choice of four colors and also in a good selection of sizes. But, sadly, for larger bikers, there are no XXXL or larger sizes available.

Both the trousers and the jacket are made from 600D Polyester with a PU coating. It’s good enough to keep you dry in most conditions and give you protection from the wind too. Though unfortunately, there is no breathable lining, so in hotter climates, there is the possibility things could get a bit sticky.

Great features…

The suit has a lot of the kinds of features we like to see. Given that this is a relatively inexpensive rain suit, you get a lot for your money. In fact, this is possibly the best motorcycle rain gear for anyone on a budget.

We like the jacket’s relatively slim fitting cut. We also like the Velcro cuffs rather than elasticated cuffs that you often find on jackets at this price-point. The thick Velcro collar and the two large front pockets are also welcome.

Elasticated waist…

The jacket has an elasticated waist that does allow for a good fit, but it makes the rear of the jacket look a bit ruffled and untidy. A belt or Velcro fastening would have been more helpful. It’s not terrible; it’s just that it could be better.

The jacket has good-sized reflective strips on the front and the rear. They’re big enough to make you easily seen through 360 degrees in poor light or the dark.

The trousers have boot stirrups to keep them from riding up. What’s more, they also have a couple of pockets. Very useful and again not something you’d expect at this kind of price.

If you’re riding a bike, you’ll need gloves to protect your hands in case of an accident. Plus, you’ll need them to keep you warm if you’re riding on a cold day or you live in a cold climate. In case of these eventualities, Joe Rocket Wind Chill gloves have plenty to keep you happy.

These are sturdy gloves that fit high over the wrist. They’re made from high-quality drum cowhide. They have a fully waterproof inner liner and, what’s more, they have extra protective reinforcements and armor.

Enhanced protection…

The palms feature extra-thick padding along with a gel pad located on the palm. This helps to dissipate vibration that can quickly become a problem even on relatively short journeys. The gel pad is perfectly positioned to protect the ulnar nerve and save you from any issues with white-finger.

These are made with an excellent combination of natural and man-made materials. The palms of the gloves are made from soft goatskin. The fronts of the fingers are also made from goatskin. They have a leather throttle guard that covers the index finger and thumb.

The gloves are well padded on the palms to protect against vibration. However, there’s no gel padding to protect the ulnar nerve specifically. It’s not a deal-breaker but is something we’d have preferred to see.

Touch screen compatible…

More positively, the TourMaster Men’s Polar-Tex 3.0 Motorcycle Gloves do have a special coating on the thumb and index finger to make them touch screen compatible. This means there’s no need to take off your gloves to make or receive calls.

Protection…

The backs of the gloves are made from 600D Polyester with padded, hinged, and stretched knuckles. The gloves offer excellent overall protection on both the front and rear of the gloves. Disappointingly, there’s no extra armor and only minimal additional protection for the knuckles.

The inside of the gloves has 100g Thinsulate 3M Flex insulation combined with 100g fleece lining. The gloves have a hook and loop closure and elasticated wrists with a gauntlet cuff. This is all enough to keep your hands feeling as warm as toast in the coldest of weather.

The heater works courtesy of a stainless core system, powered by a simple rechargeable lithium battery. The battery and the heater are both situated on the outside of the wrist, so they don’t interfere with your grip.

The heater and battery are light, so they don’t feel cumbersome either. They have an easy to operate power on and off switch. The heater has four heating levels. Plus, you can get up to four hours of battery life, which should be long enough for some long rides.

Heavy wearing nylon…

The gloves backs are made from heavy wearing and tear-resistant nylon. The palms are made from synthetic suede. We’d have preferred to have seen genuine suede. Never the less, they are fully waterproof. Plus, they have a breathable and wind-resistant HiPora inner lining, which feels soft and pleasant to the touch.

Lightweight…

The gloves only weigh 4 ounces, which is quite light for motorcycle gloves. This is mostly because they are not as well-padded on the palms as motorcycle gloves. Additionally, there is no knuckle protection at the rear. The truth is that if you’re doing any kind of motor cross, these gloves won’t afford you enough protection.

Finishing on a positive, they are touch screen compatible. Crucial for letting you answer and use your phone while keeping your hands warm. Nice one, Rocket.

Frankly, as far as motorcycle boots are concerned, these are about as good as it gets. The quality is epic, and the price tag fully reflects that. Despite this, they offer such incredible levels of comfort and protection; they are never the less still a great option.

These boots are made with premium materials throughout. The uppers are made from the finest quality leather. All the plastics are highly durable, and the lining is made from Gortex.

Best motorcycle rain gear boots for protection…

The high impact plastics around the ankle and higher up the boots offer the very best in protection for any motorcyclist. The boots have well placed protective pads and additional reinforcement throughout the boots.

The soles are made from rubber in combination with thick nylon inner soles. They’re beautiful bonded together in a way that guarantees their longevity.

Comfort all the way…

Inside the boots, for your comfort, there are removable arch supports and shock-resistant heels. To keep your feet warm and dry, Sidi uses a Gortex membrane. Additionally, the good news is that when things begin to heat-up, the membrane is entirely breathable, so your feet should remain at a comfortable temperature, regardless of the conditions you’re riding in.

To keep the boots securely in place, Sidi uses a dual can-lock buckle system in combination with a large Velcro fastener at the top of the boot. The Velcro fastener opens very wide, which makes it easy to get your feet in and out.

This is a stylish, relatively slim fit rain suit. It’s only available in black, but the flashes of yellow logos and detailing do a lot to liven up the overall look. It’s marketed as a men’s and a women’s rain suit. However, with the lack of either a small or extra small size, that seems to be pushing the claim, somewhat.

The rain suit is made from a combination of Polyester and Dualtex 90D high-density fabric, which means it’s waterproof and wind-resistant. It’s also breathable, which we’re sure you’ll agree, especially for those living in hotter climates, is essential.

Well placed Velcro…

The jacket has a foldaway hood, which is easy to tuck away when not in use neatly. It also features good quality Velcro fasteners at the collar and cuffs. It’s particularly nice to see Velcro on the cuffs as it makes it easy to get a secure and comfortable fit.

Visibility…

The jacket has two large zip pockets with colorful yellow zips. If the zips don’t get you seen, there are plenty of reflective strips that should do the job.

The only thing we would have liked to see on the jacket is a waistband fastener. However, since it’s relatively slim cut, it’s not as essential as on some other jackets. Happily, during a fast ride, it doesn’t bellow around too much.

Practical and versatile…

The trousers have pockets and also Velcro fasteners at the bottoms. It’s one of the very few rain suits to have both of these features on the pants. Not bad at all considering the price.

These are an affordable pair of warm winterproof winter gloves. They come in a choice of four colors and four sizes. You can get either black, blue, yellow and red. The available sizes are medium, large, extra-large, or extra-extra-large.

Protective…

One of the key features of the gloves is their high level of protection. They have alloy steel protectors on the knuckles, and some additional plastic shield on the back of all the fingers, though not on the thumbs. There is some padding on the front of the gloves, at the base of the palm and near the finger and thumb, but it’s not as strong as on the rear.

The gloves are waterproof and are designed to be used in weather as low as 41F. They are a gauntlet style glove and have an excellent elasticated and Velcro and buckle and loop fastener at the wrist to keep out the rain and the cold.

Other features…

The palms of the gloves have anti-slip pads, and the fingers and thumbs also have touch screen capability. Unfortunately, there’s no gel padding to protect you from vibration. But, given the rest of the features, and since these are so affordable, it’s something we can overlook.

Best Motorcycle Rain Gear Buying Guide

Fit

First of all, make sure that you order a big enough size to fit over your existing clothing. Since you may already have protective clothing and want to put a raincoat over the top, you may need to order an extra size up. So be careful to check the sizes from the manufacturer before breaking out the credit card.

Obviously, a good fit is essential, but it’s also necessary to keep out the rain and the cold. Areas that are particularly vulnerable to letting in the elements are around the neck, the wrists, and the feet.

Sealing those areas…

A rain suit can either use elasticated or Velcro fasteners at these points. We always favor Velcro fasteners as they’re the most effective in creating a perfect seal.

Waterproofing

Riding a motorcycle always increases the intensity of the elements. It’s therefore imperative to choose thicker and multi-layered or coated materials if you’re considering braving poor weather over an extended period.

Some rain suits are quite thin as they are primarily designed for lighter rainstorms or showers. The IXS Orca Evo Rain Suit is a very lightweight rain suit that’s best suited for lighter showers. Breathability
