Top 10 Best Fog Lights On The Market In 2022 Reviews

1 Nilight 60001SB Off Road Super Bright Fog Light LED Pods – 2 Piece Set – Best Fog Lights for Jeep

Whether you own a Jeep or not, there’s a good chance you’ll love these fog lights from Nilight. Sold as model #60001SB, these lights provide some serious illumination. They also look pretty darn cool on your ride’s front end.

How versatile are they?

These lights are available with a range of mounting hardware to make installation quick and easy. Especially if you have a Jeep, which these are designed for. There are specific models for front bumper mounts for Jeep models from 1986 through to today.

Even better, these fog lights feature an adjustable mounting bracket that allows them to be rotated up to 45°. This means you’ll not only be able to fit them easily but direct them as you desire.

But are they bright?

These fog lights are powered by 18 watt LED chips set to emit pure white 6000-6500K light. There are, in fact, six diodes pulling three watts each for a 1260 lumen production. This means they are seriously bright.

Equally important, they are also IP67 waterproof rated. This means they can stand submersion for up to 30 minutes at three feet. So, you don’t need to stress about a bit of rain or dust ruining your lights.

See and be seen…

We like the concentrated spot beam design. It certainly helps you see further, and these lights certainly are plenty bright. However, some drivers have complained of flickering after only a few months.

Nilight 60001SB Off Road Super Bright Fog Light LED Pods

Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • 1260 Lumens.
  • Adjustable mounting brackets.
  • Pure white 6000-6500K light.
  • IP67 waterproof rated.

Cons

  • Might not be the toughest units available.

2 Philips H8/H11/H16 X-tremeUltinon Automotive LED Fog Light – 2 Piece Set – Brightest Fog Light Bulbs

Most vehicles have fog lights built right into the front bumper. If your ride features built-in fog lights, you may just need to swap out the bulbs. Doing so can significantly increase the illumination.

That’s where Philips comes in…

With the X-tremeUltinon Automotive LED Fog Light. These are basically nothing more than new replacement bulbs for your vehicle’s existing fog lights. However, that doesn’t mean they aren’t still a massive upgrade.

These bulbs are as much as 200% brighter than your stock fog lights. We know that every driver will appreciate this increase.

But don’t worry, you won’t blind oncoming traffic…

That’s because of the patented Safe Beam Technology. This eliminates glare caused for oncoming vehicles, so you won’t blind the other drivers on the road.

You’ll likely also appreciate the 6500K colored light, which matches Xenon HID headlights perfectly. So, they’ll help keep you safer on the road and look like they belong on your front bumper.

May light up your dash as well…

The only complaint we found with this option is the compatibility. While you’d expect them to work just fine in any vehicle, that’s not the case. Apparently, some makes and models will illuminate the ‘blown bulb’ light on the dash when these are installed.

Philips H8/H11/H16 X-tremeUltinon Automotive LED Fog Light

Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Up to 200% brighter.
  • Matches Xenon HID headlights.
  • Up to 12-year lifetime.
  • White 6500K light.
  • Patented Safe Beam technology.

Cons

  • May not be compatible with all vehicles.

3 JDM ASTAR 9145 Bright White LED Fog Light Bulbs – 2 Piece Set – Best Budget Fog Light Bulbs

JDM Astar produces another awesome set of LED fog light bulbs under model #9145. These are Bright White LED Fog Light Bulbs for use in your built-in bumper fog lights. Considering the price difference with the option reviewed above, these babies are a steal.

But are they any good?

Well, yes, but don’t get your expectations too high. These are some of the best cheap fog light bulb replacements for your car or truck. They provide a bright output while operating at 10 watts.

These bulbs feature a max power of 50 watts and spit out a lovely 6000K shade of white light. This makes them ideal for anyone that is looking to increase their visibility behind the wheel.

What about compatibility?

These bulbs are highly compatible and can be used in a wide range of lighting units. This includes the industry standards 9040, 9041, 9045, 9155, H10, and so on.

Our only complaint is with the actual 1.5” long X 0.75” diameter LED diode. This unit just isn’t as directional as we’d like on an automotive headlight. The illumination seems to spread all over the place rather than being directed forward.

JDM ASTAR 9145 Bright White LED Fog Light Bulbs

Our rating:4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

Pros

  • 50 watt max power.
  • Two bulb set.
  • White 6000K light.
  • Widely compatible.

Cons

  • Bright but not well-directed light.

4 Philips 12276C1 Premium PSX24W Headlight Bulb – Sold Individually – Best Premium Fog Light Bulb

We understand that not everyone is looking to upgrade their fog lights. Sometimes you just need to swap out a bulb that’s run its course. For these circumstances, Philips makes the model #12276C1.

Are you looking for the best premium PSX24W headlight bulb?

Unlike the options we’ve already reviewed, these bulbs are sold individually. That makes them perfect for quick changes when you notice one side is no longer providing illumination.

We like the standard range bulbs for their versatility. They most likely work in your vehicle, no matter what you drive. Plus, they’ll look like the other stock bulbs on your ride, so your car doesn’t look cock-eyed.

What about safety?

These bulbs are guaranteed to pass DOT, SAE, and ECE homologation and certification tests. That means you won’t need to worry about any minor traffic violations, and you can trust its reliability.

We can’t really find anything wrong to say about this unit. It’s nothing special, but that’s part of the point of it. It’s a bit expensive compared with other options, but worth it in terms of the quality.

Our rating:4.7 out of 5 stars (4.7 / 5)

Pros

  • Wildly compatible design.

5 HELLA 005750971 500 Series Fog Lamp Kit – Best Fog Light Set for Trucks and Offroad

If you really want the best visibility while driving, you should consider a whole new fog light kit. One such kit is available from Hella in their 500 Series Fog Lamp Kit. We think it’s one of the best fog light kits for cars and trucks for a few reasons.

It’s not just about the fog…

Yes, the fog lights are fantastic, and we’ll get to those details in a moment. But first, we think it’s wise to note that Hella makes a whole host of lighting options for your vehicle.

The 500 Series Fog Light Set is designed for off-roading and power sports. They are impact-resistant thanks to their reinforced ABS housing. The lenses are made from bonded glass to keep them safe in the case of an accident.

How bright are they?

These fog lamps feature an H3 13 volt, 55-watt bulb. That makes them incredibly bright, and SAE/ECE approved. This makes them some of the best fog lights for trucks that you can buy.

But what makes them some of the coolest fog lights is the Color Shieldz feature. You can add protective laminates in various colors to shade the light. This will give you a unique ride and can be a lot of fun.

6 SYLVANIA 9145 SilverStar zXe High Performance Halogen Fog Light Bulb – 2 Piece Set – Best Looking Fog Lights

One of our favorite options for fog light bulb replacements is made by Sylvania. They’ve been making automotive lighting solutions for both manufacturers and the aftermarket for over 100 years. This alone makes it wise to consider the SilverStar zXe Halogen Fog Light Bulbs.

How often do you drive with one lightbulb on?

Never, unless one just went out, and you’re going to get a replacement. So, when you do get a replacement, wouldn’t it be wise to swap out both? After all, they’ve been running the same number of miles and generally have a similar life of use.

That’s why item #9145 from Sylvania comes with two bulbs. That way, you can get both fog lights back to optimal brightness for better visibility.

But do they provide good illumination?

Oh yeah, these babies are fantastic. They produce a crisp white light that looks and feels like HID, but without the ridiculous price point. Or so they say.

We say they are certainly an upgrade, but not really bright enough to compare with HID lights. However, we do like the cobalt blue coating for the best light transmission, and the Xenon halogen gas technology is outstandingly bright.

A jewel of a light…

Plus, there is a silver mirror alloy coating on the top for an almost jewel-like appearance. These truly are some of the best looking fog lights for your SUV, car, or truck.

SYLVANIA 9145 SilverStar zXe High Performance Halogen Fog Light Bulb - 2 Piece Set

Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Crisp white light.
  • Xenon halogen gas technology.
  • Priced aggressively.
  • Jewel-like appearance.

Cons

  • Not as bright as we’d expected.

7 AUTOANDART 55077475AE & 55077474AE Driver and Passenger Fog Light Replacement for Dodge Pickup Truck – 2 Piece Set – Best Dodge Fog Lights

Autoandart makes a fog light set for Dodge pickup trucks that’s too good to leave off our list. They are excellent aftermarket replacements for the lamps that come attached to the vehicle. If you have a Dodge, these are for you.

Which models do they fit?

These lights are designed for compatibility with 1500 Series models from 2002-2008. They also fit the 2003-2009 2500 Series and 2003-2010 3500 Series truck models.

And when we say fit, we mean these look and fit exactly like the original OE lamps. They’ve got the DOT stamp of approval for safety standards as well, which is always worth noting.

How durable are they?

These units are backed by a 1-year limited warranty. Since there is no modification required to your vehicle, you should be able to get them properly installed quickly and easily.

Now, we aren’t entirely sold on the quality of these guys. They look just right, but they feel about as cheap as they are. However, considering the low cost, it’s hard to complain, and these are still some of the better fog lights for Dodge trucks.

AUTOANDART 55077475AE & 55077474AE Driver and Passenger Fog Light Replacement for Dodge Pickup Truck - 2 Piece Set

Our rating:4.7 out of 5 stars (4.7 / 5)

Pros

  • Compatible with many Dodge pickups.
  • Direct aftermarket replacements.
  • DOT safety stamped.
  • Protected by 1-year limited warranty.

Cons

  • Not the best built on our list.

8 Valeo 088358 Driver Side/Passenger Side OE Fog Light – Best Affordable OE Replacement Fog Lights

Valeo makes one of the best OE fog light replacements for the price. Here we are looking at item #088358, which is sold individually.

Are these the best cheap fog lights?

They might be if you’re looking for an original equipment (OE) quality fog light. You don’t just get a new bulb with this unit, but a whole new stock, lens, and housing assembly.

Not only that, but they include a premium bulb as well. We like this complete set, and we like that it can be used for either the driver’s or passenger’s side.

However, the low price point is the last good point about this item…

That’s because there’s not much else to say here other than to give a light warning. These bulbs are known to shatter relatively easily. If you have a work truck, this can quickly become an issue.

Some drivers have solved this issue with a protective film over the bulbs. But we are entirely too lazy for this extra step, even if it is part of the price savings.

Best for urban driving…

In the end, we’d recommend them for city drives. If you’re regularly off-roading or on rough worksites, these might be a bit too delicate.

Valeo 088358 Driver Side/Passenger Side OE Fog Light

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros

  • OE quality product.
  • Stock, lens, and housing assembly.
  • Includes premium quality bulb.
  • Fits the driver and passenger side.

Cons

  • Known to shatter easily.

9 Rigid Industries 50481 D-Series SAE Fog Light Set – Best SAE Fog Light Set

Another set of additional exterior mount fog lamps that we like come from Rigid Industries. Their model #50481 is part of the D-Series, and it is an SAE Fog Light Set.

Do you regularly deal with adverse driving conditions on your commute?

If so, you will be pleased to hear that these lights are DOT and SAE certified. This means that they fully comply with federal requirements allowing you to use them on the highway.

This is not the case for all aftermarket fog lights, and it’s a nice feature to have on the box. So is the Made in America label that proudly proclaims these are designed, engineered, and built at home in the US.

Does this mean they’re built tough?

Oh yeah, these are tough! They feature an aluminum housing with a GORE pressure equalizing vent. This makes them incredibly rugged.

They are so durable that they’re backed by a Lifetime Warranty, which is good because you won’t want to replace these units. They aren’t all that expensive, considering the performance, but they are pricey compared to other options.

Rigid Industries 50481 D-Series SAE Fog Light Set

Our rating:4.7 out of 5 stars (4.7 / 5)

Pros

  • Durable aluminum housing.
  • DOT and SAE certified.
  • GORE pressure equalizing vent.
  • Backed by a lifetime warranty.

Cons

  • On the expensive side of our list.

10 Auto Dynasty Smoked Lens Bumper Driving Fog Lights Lamps Replacement for GMC Sierra Pickup Truck – 2 Piece Set – Best GMC Sierra Fog Lights

If you drive a GMC Sierra pickup truck, this next option is for you. This time we’re looking at some Smoked Lens Bumper Fog Light Replacements from Auto Dynasty.

These are great, but only if you have the right model truck…

As for what model these are designed for, well, that’s a bit limited. You’re looking at GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, or 3500, but only from the years 2003-2006. Oh, and they will not fit Denali models.

That makes them rather exclusive and not exactly the most versatile. However, if you have a truck that fits in that range, these will be absolutely perfect.

What’s so good about them?

We really appreciate the plug-n-play installation. These are direct replacements for the stock units, and that makes getting them installed super easy.

These are excellent fog lights for night driving, heavy rain, dense fog, or swirling snow. The only downside is that they aren’t any tougher than the originals. These aren’t junk by any means, but they also aren’t any more durable than you’d expect at this low price point.

Auto Dynasty Smoked Lens Bumper Driving Fog Lights Lamps Replacement for GMC Sierra Pickup Truck

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros

  • Plug-n-play installation.
  • Direct OE replacement part.
  • Two light set.
  • Bulb included.

Cons

  • Not widely compatible.

Best Fog Lights Buying Guide

Best Fog Lights Review

When you begin shopping for new fog lights for your vehicle, there are several things to consider. In this next section, we will explore these key considerations. In doing so, you should find the best match for your vehicle.

The first thing to consider is mounting style…

Most vehicles come with fog lights built into the front bumper. Many of the options reviewed are direct replacements for these lights. Some allow you to just change out the bulb, and others take a bit more installation work.

If you choose in-bumper fog lights, you’ll want to ensure they will mount easily in your vehicle. Some fog light replacements are vehicle make/model specific, while others are more general.

There are also independently mounted fog lights. These can be mounted on the front bumper, hood, or roof rack for ultimate versatility.

Another key point to consider is output or lumens…

A light’s brightness is measured in lumens, where the greater the number, the brighter the illumination. This is where it can start to get a little tricky, as you might not want the brightest option available.

We recommend sticking with fog lights that have received DOT approval. There are many headlights and fog lights out there that are simply too bright to be safe.

You don’t want to blind oncoming drivers and cause a wreck…

You also don’t want a ticket for unsafe vehicle modifications. But that’s not the only reason to shy away from the brightest options out there.

Lumens are important, but so is the angle of the beam. Superbright light that is overly scattered will not increase your visibility behind the wheel. What you need is a clear, focused beam of light directly in your path.

That’s why your other consideration should be the build quality…

When it comes to quality, there’s a couple of things to consider. You’ll want to ensure that the bulb doesn’t burn out too quickly. For this reason, many drivers prefer LED fog lights for their extended life.

You should also prioritize the durability of the unit. Some fog lights are reputed to last only a few months before they need to be replaced again. This can be frustrating, expensive, and may leave you stranded in the dark.

It’s worth spending a touch more on a product that will last. Cheaper lights are a good temporary fix in a rush, but they’ll cost you the most in the long-term.

Back to fog lights…

So, what are the Best Fog Lights?

Hopefully, you’ve now narrowed down the countless options. It was our goal to connect you with the ideal fog lights for your vehicle; however, if you’re still not certain, we’d recommend the…

Rigid Industries 50481 D-Series SAE Fog Light Set

… as the best all-around fog light set. They’re built tough, superbright, and widely compatible. Plus, you needn’t worry about remembering to turn them off on federal highways.

Stay safe on the road, and enjoy your ride.
