1 Blackhawk B6350 Black/Red Fast Lift Service Jack – Best High Capacity Floor Jack

The first jack we are looking at comes from Blackhawk Automotive. Their B6350 model floor jack with a lift capacity of 7,000 pounds.

Easy positioning…

It has a 4-inch saddle that lifts quickly with no load. As you pull down on the 4-foot steel handle, you will notice that the saddle can rotate, allowing you to position the jack under a mounting point easily.

For safety reasons, Blackhawk has integrated a pressure release valve and plug into this jack. Before you start lifting, you will want to ensure that this valve is in the closed position.

Roll with it…

The B6250 is made from heavy-duty steel and measures 28 and ½-inches long by 13 and ¾-inches wide. This jack weighs 85 pounds, so carrying it around is no easy task.

Thankfully, Blackhawk has incorporated four metal wheels onto the base of the jack. These wheels do not have locks on them, so we wouldn’t recommend lifting anything on an uneven surface.

Good range…

It has a lift range from five and a half inches to 22-inches off the ground. Once you have the jack at the appropriate height, you will want to place jack stands under your vehicle.

This jack is not made to support your vehicle for long periods of time. To lower the jack, you simply need to turn the handle to the left.

2 BIG RED T83006 Torin Hydraulic Trolley Service/Floor Jack – Best Floor Jack for SUV

Some of the best quality Jacks can not only lift a car but an SUV as well. The Big Reg T83006 comes with an extra-long saddle neck just for this purpose.

The standard saddle measures two and ⅛-inches in diameter. It comes with a 2-foot-long handle that can raise the jack from 5 and ⅞-inches to 20 and ⅞-inches in height.

A great option for larger vehicles…

With the neck extension in place, the saddle will sit 9-inches off the ground. This makes it much more secure when lifting trucks or SUVs.

The T83006 has a maximum lift capacity of 6,000 pounds. It has an integrated safety bypass system that prevents the jack from lifting vehicles that are too heavy as well.

Durability…

Big Red has crafted this jack from steel. It measures just under 26-inches long by 11-inches wide and weighs 46 pounds. You will find two steel caster wheels along the front of the jack. Behind them, you will find another two steel casters that can rotate 360 degrees.

For a steel jack that weighs only 46 pounds, we are a bit concerned about its durability. We have come across 6,000-pound aluminum jacks that weigh more than 46 pounds, for instance.

Given the low price of this jack, we assume Big Red has cut corners on the thickness of the steel in some areas. The steel brackets holding the swivel caster wheels in place could definitely be more robust, for example.

Mighty quick…

It does make quick work of lifting a vehicle, nonetheless. But we would recommend placing stand jacks under your vehicle once you have it raised to be on the safe side.

3 Arcan 3-Ton Quick Rise Aluminum Floor Jack – Best Lightweight Floor Jack

This next floor jack from Arcan Professional Tools is also able to lift 6,000-pound vehicles. It is crafted from aircraft-grade aluminum and measures 31 and ¾-inches long by 14 and ¾-inches wide.

Even though this jack is rather large, it only weighs 58 pounds. You can easily roll this jack into position thanks to the very sturdy metal wheels on offer.

Dual Piston…

To raise or lower this floor jack, you will find a 4-foot-long metal handle. This handle comes in two lightweight pieces that lock together via a push tab type system. With the handle secured in place, you will notice that this jack uses dual pump pistons to raise and lower the four and ½-inch saddle.

It has a lifting range from 3 and ½-inches to 18-inches. Without any weight on the saddle, you can fully extend it in only six strokes.

Slow and smooth…

Bypass and overload valves are also integrated into this jack to prevent it from overextending, for example. Even under max capacity, this jack will lower slowly and smoothly.

Being aluminum and lightweight, once you are done with the jack, you can easily pick it up with the integrated metal handles and carry it away.

4 Pro-Lift F-767 Grey Low Profile Floor Jack – Best Budget Floor Jack

If you want an extremely lightweight jack that can lift 4,000 pounds, the Pro-Lift F-767 might be perfect for you. Somehow the designers at Pro-Lift were able to craft this jack out of steel and still have it only weigh 29-pounds.

This is most likely because of how compact the jack is. It only measures 18-inches long by eight and ½-inches wide, making it one of the most compact jacks we have seen.

But there’s a catch…

Due to the compact size of this jack, its lifting range is somewhat limited. The 2-inch-wide saddle can only lift 4,000-pound vehicles a maximum of 14-inches off the ground.

You will find a small 15-inch-long one-piece handle included to operate the jack. While the size of this handle also helps in portability, it makes pumping the jack rather difficult.

Not exactly quick…

This jack raises very slowly, and you will be pumping for quite a while to reach its maximum height. Since the handle is so short and it requires a lot of pumping to raise, you might find yourself with a sore back afterward as well.

When we unboxed this jack, you should also be aware that a bit of oil had leaked out. The screw used for bleeding the jack was very loose, and you may have to top up the hydraulic fluid in the jack before using it.

The low overall cost of this jack does outweigh the problems we encountered. However, if you value portability, then you should consider this jack, nonetheless.

5 Powerbuilt 620479E Xtra Low Profile Floor Jack – Best Low Profile Floor Jack

The Powerbuilt 620479E floor jack also has a low-profile design able to fit under vehicles as low as two and ¾-inches off the ground. This steel jack measures just under 25-inches long by 13 and ½-inches wide.

It weighs 58 pounds and has an integrated carry handle along with ball-bearing swivel caster wheels allowing it to roll around easily. Just above that, you can attach the included 18-inch-long handle to raise and lower the jack.

Even though this handle is short, the jack raises to its max height in less than ten pumps. This jack’s maximum lift capacity is 4,000-pounds and has a maximum lift range of 15 and ½-inches.

Safety Bar…

So far, most of the floor jacks that we have looked at are best used for lifting only. They aren’t meant to support the vehicle over long periods. But, Powerbuilt has included what they call a Safety Bar into their 620479E jack. Located along the side of the jack arm, you will notice two holes.

Included with this jack is a substantial steel pin that you can insert into these holes. This allows the jack arm to remain fully extended over long periods, thus eliminating the need for jack stands.

Get a grip…

To support your vehicle, this jack uses a square 3-inch rubber pad. This pad is textured and allows for a large amount of grip, but we do see it wearing down over time.

6 Jack-Low Profile – Most Durable Low Profile Floor Jack

This low-profile jack comes to us from the Performance Tool Store. The Performance Tool W1642 floor jack’s slim design allows it to slide under vehicles that only sit two and ¾-inches off the ground.

It can also lift 4,000-pound vehicles 20-inches off the ground when fully extended. Lifting this floor jack is relatively easy thanks to the dual piston design and two-piece handle.

A bit of a backbreaker…

The included handle is only 19 and ½-inches long, though. This will leave you having to bend over to pump up the jack.

Lowering the jack is done by removing the handle and releasing the small screw at its base. It lowers smoothly, but you need to be careful not to unscrew it too much, or it will drop extremely quickly.

Saddle…

The saddle on the W1642 is rubber, which should protect your mounting points. It is 1-inch in diameter and has the ability to be swivel or be removed. However, the saddle’s small size leaves us a bit concerned about the jack’s overall stability. Since the W1642 provides 20-inches of lift, we would have liked the saddle to have a larger surface area, making it more stable.

Fortunately, this jack’s steel frame is exceptionally durable, and the large front wheels and swivel casters allow you to move this 31 and ½-inch-long jack with ease.

7 Sunex Tools 6602ASJ Aluminum Service Jack

The last product on this Best Floor Jacks review comes to us from Sunex Tools. Their 6602ASJ model jack is made from aluminum and measures just under 32-inches long by 14 and ½-inches wide.

It comes with two handles allowing you to carry this 50-pound jack to your vehicle and then roll it into place. You can fit this jack under cars as long as they are more than three and ½-inches above the ground.

Quick as a flash…

When in place, you can raise or lower the jack via the steel two-piece handle. You will be able to lift 4,000-pound vehicles up to 20-inches off the ground.

As you pump this jack, it lifts very quickly. With no load on the jack, it will fully extend in only five pumps due to its large dual pistons!

Vehicle Protection…

This Sunex jack has a very wide four and 6/10-inch diameter saddle that is made from rubber. It not only grips extremely well, but it is also very stable even when fully extended.

The included 50-inch-long handle also separates into two pieces allowing you to store it easily. It also features a foam pad surrounding the lower portion of it to protect your vehicle if it were to make contact with it.

Needed bleeding…

While this Sunex floor jack may lift quickly, we needed to bleed air from it before using it. This is somewhat common with jacks, and we will explain how to do it below in the following buying guide.

Best Floor Jacks Buying Guide

As you may have noticed, all of the floor jacks we have looked at differ from one another somewhat. These include the lift capacity and range, among other things.

The following buying guide will go through what key factors you should consider before buying a new floor jack…

Lift capacity

First and foremost, you need to consider the weight of the vehicle that you will be lifting. Every jack has a maximum amount of weight that it can safely lift. You will have noticed 4,000 to 7,000-pound jacks in this review. A 4,000-pound jack will lift your small sedan without a problem.

If you have a large SUV or truck, though, you might find yourself needing a more powerful jack. The last thing you want to do is to exceed the maximum lift capacity of your jack; this can be disastrous.

Lift Range

Now that you have determined the jack’s lift capacity, you should consider the size of it and its lift range.

If you have a low-profile or unibody vehicle, you need to make sure your jack will fit under it. All floor jacks will provide their minimum and maximum lift range.

Some floor jacks can fit under cars that are only 3-inches off the ground. You will also find jacks that come with arm extensions that are more suitable for lifting SUVs, for example.

Saddles

On the end of the jack arm, you will find a saddle. The saddle is what will make direct contact with your vehicle as you lift it. This can vary in size and composition, such as being made of rubber and 4-inches or 2-inches in diameter, for example.

Since the size of the saddle can directly affect the stability of the jack, we would recommend a larger saddle rather than a smaller one if at all possible.

If you are only going to be changing a tire, you might not necessarily need to lift the vehicle as much as you would when changing the oil. However, we prefer a jack with a higher lift range, therefore allowing you better access underneath the vehicle.

Safety

Manufacturers will commonly incorporate overload protection into their jacks. This means that the jack can’t extend beyond its max height or lift a vehicle that it can’t handle. With too much weight on a jack, it could buckle, and you could find yourself damaging your vehicle or, even worse, hurting yourself.

Some of the best jacks we have looked at aren’t meant to support your vehicle. They need to be used in conjunction with stand jacks.

You may find that some floor jacks have integrated pins that will keep the jack arm in position. While this may eliminate the need for stand jacks, you can never be too safe, in our opinion, and recommend that you always use Stand Jacks as well.

Operating a jack

All floor jacks will come with a handle that will be used to raise or lower the jack. This handle may be 18-inches long or 4-feet long. Depending on the jack’s pistons, you will notice that you may need to pump the jack five and twenty times for it to extend it fully.

Lowering your jack can usually be done by turning the handle to the left. This will release pressure, and the jack should come down slowly and smoothly.

However, sometimes you may have to use the handle to unscrew a bolt to open the release valve to lower it. But you will need to take care when lowering a jack this way because if you unscrew it too much, the jack could drop suddenly.

Bleeding

With all jacks, you will occasionally need to bleed them. This is because air can get trapped into the jack’s hydraulics, and it won’t lift as easily.

To bleed a jack, all you need to do is unscrew the bleed valve located on the bottom of it and then start pumping the jack. This will push air out of the system, and the jack should not rise. Once all the air is out of the system, screw the valve closed, and the jack should operate as normal and should rise smoothly once again.

You may also occasionally need to add hydraulic fluid to the jack as well. You do this by simply opening up the filler plug and topping it off with compatible fluid. After topping off the jack’s hydraulic fluid, you should always bleed the system to get any unwanted air out of it.

This might not have the highest lift capacity, but the 4,000-pounds on offer should be more than enough for most users. And, thanks to its low-profile design, you can use this jack on lowered or unibody vehicles. Even though the handle is only 18-inches long, it doesn’t take much effort to raise a vehicle 15. 5 inches off the ground.

The textured 3-inch square saddle is also incredibly stable and grips well. Since this jack also has an integrated Safety Bar, you won’t necessarily need to use additional floor jacks to support your vehicle, either, although we always recommend that you do.
